The field of radio frequency (RF) circuit design is currently enjoying a renaissance, driven by the recent explosive growth in wireless telecommunications. Because this resurgence of interest in RF caught industry and academia by surprise, there has been a mad scramble to educate a new generation of RF engineers. In trying to synthesize the two traditions of "conventional" RF and lower-frequency IC design, one encounters a problem: "Traditional" RF engineers and analog IC designers often find communication with each other difficult because of their diverse backgrounds and the differences in the media in which they realize their circuits. Radio-frequency IC design, particularly in CMOS, is a different activity altogether from discrete RF design.As IC design-house and IP vendor, HoneySepc has significant experience in wireless connectivity and sensor electronics systems for both consumer and professional applications. The designs include: WiFi, BT, ZigBee, GNSS, FM-Broadcast Transceivers, Digital Radio, MEMS based gyroscopes and accelerometers, touch screen controllers and multiple of other applications. Currently the main focus is IoT applications, where the latest IP for WiFi and BT are developed in 28nm.

Smart Sensors and IoT

The advancements in electronics, embedded controllers, smart communicating devices as well as the progress towards a better informed, knowledge based society increase the demand for small size, affordable sensors that allow accurate and reliable data recording, processing, storing and communication. This led to the paradigm known as Internet of Things (IoT) in which Wireless Smart Sensor Nodes are most important elements. There are many technical issues in terms of design and development of sensors, making the sensor node wireless in which the measured data can be formatted to upload in the website, the collection and storage of data in the website, analysis of data (cloud computing), data security and accessibility of data through remote secured access. Though IoT is becoming a common buzz words in recent times but still a lot of issues remains in terms of its interoperability, suitable embedded platforms and energy issues.
